About the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC)
The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) is India's premier statutory body responsible for protecting and promoting human rights. It was established on 12 October 1993 under the Protection of Human Rights Act, 1993.
NHRC works towards safeguarding the rights relating to life, liberty, equality and dignity of every individual as guaranteed under the Constitution of India and various international human rights conventions.

About the Online Short Term Internship Programme (OSTI) – August 2026
NHRC is organizing a Two-Week Online Short Term Internship Programme (OSTI) for students across India.
The programme will run from 3 August 2026 to 14 August 2026. During the internship, students will attend expert lectures, participate in discussions, complete project work and prepare reports related to human rights and constitutional governance.

Eligibility Criteria
Applications are invited from students across India fulfilling the following conditions:
- Students studying in the 3rd year or above of an integrated five-year course.
- Students studying in the 3rd year or final year of a graduation programme.
- Students pursuing any semester or year of a postgraduate degree.
- Students pursuing any semester or year of a postgraduate diploma.
- Research scholars from any discipline.
- Applicants must have secured at least 60% marks in Class XII.
- Applicants must also have secured at least 60% marks in the first four semesters of graduation or integrated programme.
- Applicants should clearly mention the percentage calculated from CGPA/SGPA along with the official conversion formula.
- The applicant should not be more than 28 years of age as on 1 July 2026.
Duration & Working Hours

Since this is a full-time internship, candidates should ensure their complete availability during the internship period.

Stipend & Certificate
- Every intern successfully completing the programme will receive a stipend of ₹2,000.
- An official participation certificate will be awarded by NHRC.
- Attendance, punctuality and discipline are compulsory.
- Project report, presentation and book review must be submitted on time.
